Summary:
After your interview, you will either be extended an invitation to serve, an invitation to join the waitlist, or a declination. If you are extended either invitation you will receive several emails with instructions; I am not going to go into all of those as each is very detailed and straightforward to accomplish. One task you will need to complete is an aspiration statement and resume for your country of service. You will receive a document that details the requirements and format for each document.
The following must be addressed in your aspiration statement:
-
Three professional attributes that you plan to use during your Peace Corps service and how these will help you fulfill your aspirations and commitment to service;
-
Identify two strategies for working effectively with host country partners to meet expressed needs;
-
Your strategy for adapting to a new culture with respect to your own cultural background;
-
The skills and knowledge you hope to gain during pre-service training to best serve your future community and project;
-
How you think Peace Corps service will influence your personal and professional aspirations after your service ends.
You have thirty days to complete and submit each document per the instructions.
Final Thoughts:
Having your initial motivation statement to build on will be extremely helpful! Make sure you save this when submitting your application. Heads up - the required resume format was different from any format I have had my resume in since creating it. I have attached my documents below as samples for those interested.
